96 chairs live on this page because they can stack, and most of them are listed that way. Banquet rooms and patios you clear every night are where it pays. Eleven are not listed as stackable, so read the stacking line on each one before you plan the closet.

What stacking buys you

A stack takes up a fraction of the floor a row of chairs does. That matters for a banquet room that flips between a dinner and a dance, and for a patio where the deck gets hosed down between services. Of the 96 chairs here, 86 are listed as stackable and 11 are not. The listing for a chair answers the question for that chair alone, so read it instead of guessing from the look of its neighbor.

Measure the place the stack will wait. A corner of a back room, a wall in a storeroom, a spot behind the host stand: pick it first, then see how many of your chairs it can hold. The order minimum counts tables and chairs, 8 pieces in any mix, so a handful of one stacker is a fair way to test the fit.

Frames and seats

Metal leads with 54 frames, aluminum follows with 25 and steel adds 8. Seats come in fabric on 38 chairs, vinyl on 34 and metal on 26, with plastic teak and faux rattan on 5 each, and wood on 4. Upholstery options are listed on 30, and a padded back on 37. Single chairs start around $53.

Looks split across a few families. The Tolix chairs are a metal style, the banquet chairs are padded and all stackable, and the chiavari chairs are a small group that stacks too. A stackable aluminum dining chair stands 34 3/4 inches high on an 18 3/4 by 23 inch footprint.

Indoors or on the patio

Indoor use is listed on 87 of them and patio use on 42. Only the patio-listed ones belong outside. For the terrace, open patio chairs and filter by what stacks. Arms are on 10, so those take a little more floor.

Counting a stack

Plan the room for the layout, and the storage for the stacks. A floor plan of 12 four-tops needs 48 chairs, and 48 stacking chairs need a place to rest on Monday. Save both numbers in Patio plans, and compare against the wider restaurant chairs range when a different style calls.

A big chair order may arrive on more than one truck. Check each pallet and carton against the bill of lading, look for damage, and write it on the paperwork before the driver pulls away.
